Welcome to a lively Spanish village filled with music, dancing, romance, and a little bit of trouble! At the heart of the story are Kitri, a spirited young woman, and Basilio, a clever and charming barber who is hopelessly in love with her. Unfortunately, Kitri’s father, Lorenzo, has already decided that she should marry Gamache, a wealthy and rather ridiculous nobleman. Kitri has absolutely no intention of giving up the man she loves—or her own happily ever after!
Just when things become complicated, the eccentric knight Don Quixote arrives with his loyal and often bewildered companion, Sancho Panza. Don Quixote is a dreamer who sees the world through the eyes of a knight from the stories he loves. He mistakes Kitri for his idealized love, Dulcinea, and quickly finds himself caught in the middle of Kitri and Basilio’s romantic adventure.
As Kitri and Basilio attempt to escape, Don Quixote and Sancho follow, leading them into a series of comic adventures. Along the way, Don Quixote encounters one of his greatest challenges: a field of windmills. To Don Quixote, these are not ordinary windmills—they are enormous giants that must be defeated! His imagination takes over, creating one of the most famous and entertaining moments in the ballet.
The adventure then takes a magical turn as Don Quixote falls into a dream. The world transforms into an enchanted forest filled with the Queen of the Dryads, Dryads, Cupid, and other magical creatures. Here, surrounded by beauty and music, Don Quixote encounters his beloved Dulcinea in a dream that captures the romantic and classical spirit of the ballet.
But every dream must eventually end. As Don Quixote awakens, the adventure continues, and Kitri and Basilio still have one very important problem to solve: how to be together.
Kitri and Basilio continue their escape, determined to outsmart Lorenzo and Gamache. Their journey brings them through a lively tavern filled with dancing, laughter, and colorful characters. Don Quixote and Sancho Panza once again find themselves caught up in the action, while Gamache continues his pursuit of Kitri.
When Kitri is finally discovered, she is forced to face her father's wishes once again. But Basilio has a clever plan of his own. With a little theatrical trickery and plenty of comedy, he manages to convince Lorenzo that Kitri and Basilio's love is impossible to deny. At last, Lorenzo gives his blessing, and the young couple gets their wish. Now there is only one thing left to do: Celebrate!
The village comes alive for a spectacular Spanish wedding filled with dancing, music, flowers, Bridesmaids, Cavaliers, Gypsies, and joyful villagers. The energy builds until Kitri and Basilio take center stage for their famous Grand Pas de Deux, one of the most celebrated moments in classical ballet.
With dazzling technique, beautiful partnering, spectacular turns, and plenty of personality, Kitri and Basilio's wedding becomes the grand finale of their adventure.
Don Quixote and Sancho Panza look on proudly before setting off once again in search of their next adventure. And perhaps that is the true magic of Don Quixote: sometimes the world may not be exactly as we imagine it, but with a little courage, a lot of heart, and plenty of imagination, even the wildest adventure can have a happy ending. Love wins. The wedding begins. And the adventure goes on!
