From Taubaté, SP/Brazil, Leonardo Victorino began his studies in dance at age 16 at Maestro Fego Camargo School of Arts. After a year and a half studying, in 2007, received a full scholarship to join to the world-renowned Bolshoi Ballet School (Brazil). graduating in 2009 (Class Dmitry Afanasiev).
In 2010, Mr. Victorino joined the Companhia Brasileira de Ballet (Brazilian Ballet Company, Rio de Janeiro/BR) under the artistic direction of Jorge Teixeira, touring Internationally in Miami/FL with the ballet Don Quixote and performing full length ballets such as Giselle, The Magic Flute and The Nutcracker. Mr. Victorino also performed contemporary and Neo-Classical works choreographed by Henrique Talmah and Welber Pacheco.
In 2011 to 2013, Victorino joined the Companhia de Ballet do Rio de Janeiro
(Ballet of Rio de Janeiro), under the artistic direction of Dalal Achcar, where
performed Classical, Neo Classical and Contemporary Ballets of
choreographers such as Dalal Achcar, Tindaro Silvano, Luiz Arrieta and Janice
Botelho, also being part of the assembly of the ballet knights of the Rose by Éric Frédéric (Belgium). Getting promoted as a Soloist in 2013, Leonardo also performed with Theatro Municipal Do Rio de Janeiro (a partnership with Companhia de Ballet do Rio de Janeiro) for the productions of Marguerite and Armand (Frederick Ashton) and Swan Lake (Natalia Makarova), also the operetta The Merry Widow (Franz Lehar) and the opera Aida (Giuseppe Verdi, Regency Isaac Karabtchevsky).
In September 2013, Leonardo was invited to an Exchange through the Program “Partners of America”, a partnership between Ballet do Rio de Janeiro and CityDance School and Conservatory (Washington, DC/USA) under direction of Lorraine Spiegler. On his exchange he had the opportunity to Teach, coach and choreograph, also keep training and performing with the Conservatory. During his exchange Leonardo performed by the Conservatory with the Moscow Ballet for their nationwide Nutcracker Tour in 2013 in Washington, DC, being honored to have the First Lady and President Obama in the audience, performing lately again for the couple in a private show in the conservatory.
Leonardo also competed in the 2014 Youth American Grand Prix with the Pas de Deux and Coda of Third act of the Ballet Coppélia, winning First Place on the semifinals, and received a full scholarship for the summer program and Second Company of The Joffrey ballet Chicago on the New York City Grand Final Round (attending the scholarship for 4 months).
Also, in 2014 he performed as a Principal Guest Artist in The Nutcracker production of the Albany Berkshire Ballet (New York/USA), touring with the Company in many cities in the states of New York, Massachusetts and Vermont.
In 2015 Victorino joined the Lake Erie Ballet (Pennsylvania/USA) under direction of Darren McIntyre, where he performed full lengths classical and contemporary ballets choreographed by the Director, such as the World Premiere of “The Wizard of Oz” the Ballet where he led the role of the Scarecrow.
In September of 2015 Victorino moved to South Carolina/USA to join Columbia City ballet, under direction of William Starrett, having his first introduction to the audience leading the role of “Dracula” in the classic Halloween company’s production of Dracula/ Ballet with a Bite and after that as “Nutcracker and Nutcracker prince” in the company’s The Nutcracker. Since then Leonardo have being performing as Soloist and corps in full lengths ballets of the company repertoire such as Aladdin, Peter Pan, Swan Lake, Beauty and the Beast, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Cleopatra, Beatles the Ballet, Sleeping Beauty and others.
In 2019 to currently Leonardo is a Company member at the American Contemporary Ballet (Los Angeles/CA).
Leonardo performed as a guest in 2016 with The Washington Ballet, under direction of Septime Webre for the company’s World Premiere of the Little Mermaid and is a resident guest artist with Ann Brodie’s Carolina Ballet (SC/USA), also performed as guest with Kirkland Arts Center (NY), University of South Carolina and Litchfield Arts Academy (SC/USA) during the years of 2015 to 2019.
